Hitler was NOT an athiest. That Stalin and Mao were does not prove atheism is tied to evil any more than two evil religious leaders prove religion is tied to evil. What all three of them show is that totalitarianism is evil, all religion is totalitarian.

I beg to differ. Stalin, Hitler and Mao, the greatest murders of all time, didn't have imaginary friends

Really though, no one quite understands the big bang. There are still some things science can't answer. Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking one side over the other; just call me when all the results are in lol

Wow, y'all are ignorant. Okay, first, modern science > the Bible and the Tanahk. This is why we live longer than we did before. Ed-Hyde, um, no, the Bible doesn't match science. Educate yourself first and then read it.

Check yourself... where do I start? You are defining agnostic. Atheism is, in fact, the belief in the nonexistence of any deities (which would include God). Secondly, WTFO does not exist on this site anymore... so, replying to a May posting won't help.
check your facts - October 28, 2009, 5:43 pm
WTFO I hate to break this to you, but you are the ignorant here. Atheism is lack of belief in god. It's not claiming to know there is no god. There's a big difference.

Right, Islam. Or were you talking about the US?

DotDotDot - January 17, 2009, 9:03 pm
Actually it's hard to be really religious. All those sins to avoid and rules to follow... not to mention the really really hardcore ones that spend countless hours trying to convert others. If anything agnosticism would probably be considered "lazy". Meh.

atheism: What the Hell? oh, wait.... what the... ah... nothing? I live just for myself? I am a selfish bastard? Yes, that sounds close...

ATHEISM - Atheism tends towards skepticism regarding supernatural claims citing a lack of empirical evidence. Just as the world was considered flat. Not seeing YET isn't reason for disbelief.

The one's I've said this to just look at me like I'm an idiot and reply, in all seriousness, that their God just always existed. In informal logic, I think that's called "special pleading." But in their defence, I often do look like an idiot.
mmmBingSoo - October 27, 2009, 2:50 pm
i say to people: how did you your god come into being. the god couldn't have been always here, i mean there had to have been a beginning and there had have been nothing. How can a god suddenly come out that can create the whole universe?

Former raving pentecostal fundamentalist. I was one of those iritating ****s who'd strike up a friendly urge to repent with you. With faith comes the guilt that with the same hand you hand that tract away, you would also jerk off with almost daily.

motifake - October 27, 2009, 9:50 am

However, "not seeing YET" actually is a rational reason for LACK of belief. Look up weak atheism, by far the most common type. Everyone is born a weak atheist and an agnostic.
Player_Meyer - October 27, 2009, 9:43 am
That's why I added the YET! haha as with most things it's outlandish till proven. Same argument can go the other way saying that atheists can't disprove the existence of god. Evolution adheres to rules which were marvelously written as with most wonders
Newfrontier - October 27, 2009, 9:16 am
However, the burden of proof still remains with those who claim they've witnessed supernatural phenomena, just like the burden of proof was with those who considered the world to be a sphere. Cool picture btw

When we produce something our flaws are shown in that creation and are a reflection of our ability. Therefore even if god did exist why would you want to worship someone that created such a flawed world, one that must be flawed as well?
Conclusion - June 24, 2009, 2:17 pm
It is proven that it is an unprovable question. (Please note that this reasoning is for a generic all-powerful consciousness and does not apply any particular religions, because some can be proven wrong.)
#2-let's prove He doesn't exist - June 24, 2009, 2:13 pm
It is impossible to prove he doesn't exist because if he is all-powerful he could hide from any of us easily (for which reasons? I don't know, for the same he decided to create the universe) Bottom line, even if we can't find him, it doesn't mean anything
#1-let's prove He exists - June 24, 2009, 2:10 pm
It is impossible to prove he exist because even if an all powerful being would come down to us and do anything we can imagine, how can we know that there is nothing more an all-powerful being should be able to do.
Ed-Hyde - June 24, 2009, 1:13 pm
Proof God Exists: 1. Platypus-Evolve THAT Darwin. 2. Prayers actually do get answered. Prayers come in two varieties. Simply talking to God, or asking for something. Most people simply don't know how to ask, how to pray, or just don't ask at all.

Hector - February 18, 2009, 1:27 pm
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. Just because you can't explain those strange lights doesn't mean the lights are alien spacecraft. The claim that there is a God or Gods should be proven true by those making the claims.
Nero - February 18, 2009, 1:19 pm
Vince, I am a steadfast atheist. However, when I say there is no proof of god(s), theists simply state there is no proof to the opposite. The most devout theists and atheists are all stuck in the middle ground.
VinceVicious - January 19, 2009, 5:43 pm
I agree. But I don't like having a middle ground stance. I want someone to utterly convince me.
motifake - January 19, 2009, 5:39 pm

If you answer the question "Do you BELIEVE in god?" in any way other than YES, then you lack a positive belief in god(s), and are therefore at least a weak atheist.

DotDotDot - January 19, 2009, 4:55 pm
The only proof anyone should ever need is the proof they give themselves and as an agnostic the proof is simple. The proof that you can neither prove or disprove any religion. Or are you just trying to get a laugh watching them try? lol
